INTERCULTURAL CAPACITY BUILDING
Bethel has a strong commitment to becoming a community gathering place for all people, without exception. As a congregation, we have learned that we are best able to do this by creating genuine relationships and developing mutual understanding with our neighbors. In order to fully include all of our members and continue to expand and deepen our welcome to all, we are called to focus on our intercultural competence.

To this end, Bethel's leadership and members are excited to explore the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) as a new tool for reflection and development.
THE IDI: INTERCULTURAL DEVELOPMENT INVENTORY
The Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) is a short survey designed to measure an individual's awareness of and sensitivity to cultural differences (intercultural sensitivity). The IDI helps identify the cultural proficiency of individuals and organizations, and will allow us to learn more how best to work with one another in ministry. We recognize how important this knowledge is to equip us to care for one another with the grace and love of God.
The Intercultural Development Inventory is a 50-item questionnaire that can be taken on-line by anyone registered by an official facilitator to do so (15-20 minutes).
WHAT TO EXPECT
Before taking the assessment, you will meet with an official facilitator to learn what you need to know before taking the IDI. Pastor Brenda is a trained IDI facilitator.

After taking the IDI you will review your results with a facilitator. You and your facilitator will work together to help determine what you can do to close the gap of your perceived competence and your actual competence.
If you are interested in learning more about the IDI, or taking the assessment through Bethel, please contact our staff to start a conversation and set a time to meet by emailing us at bethel@bethel-mpls.org
